EDEXCEL A-LEVEL IN ART & DESIGN: FINE ART (9FA0)
INTRODUCTION
The Edexcel A-Level Art and Design in Fine Art is designed to encourage students with an adventurous and enquiring approach to art and design. This qualification qualifies for UCAS points, and provides students with a broad educational basis for progression onto higher education or for moving into employment within the creative industries. The aim of this qualification is to allow students to develop:
Their intellectual, imaginative, creative and intuitive powers through the use of traditional media and digital manipulation (especially Adobe Photoshop editing and application in assignment developmental work).
Their investigative, analytical, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills, aesthetic understanding and critical judgement.
An understanding of the interrelationships between art, craft and design and an awareness of the contexts in which they operate.
Knowledge and understanding of art, craft and design in contemporary society and in other times and cultures.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
GCSE Art & Design: Fine Art with a minimum grade C or 4;

A good school/College report.
COURSE & COMPONENT STRUCTURE
This specification is designed to be taken over two years. At the end of the 2nd year, students will sit the two components of the A-Level qualification.
PROGRESSION
As mentioned above, this qualification is an ideal route for students looking for places at universities and colleges and careers in the creative industries. Students progress onto specialist courses at Degree, Higher National Diploma, or Foundation Degree level.
