AQA GCSE IN SPANISH (8698)
INTRODUCTION
The aim of the course is to develop students’ language skills so that they may communicate accurately both in oral and written Spanish. The language is studied in relation to everyday activities, personal and social life, the world around us, the world of work and education. Students will learn the skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
The specification aims to give candidates the opportunity to:
Derive enjoyment and benefit from language learning by following a coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study.
Develop understanding of the language in a variety of contexts.
Develop knowledge of the language and language learning skills.
Develop the ability to communicate effectively in the language.
Develop awareness and understanding of countries and communities where the language is spoken.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Grade 3 or 2 at GCSE Spanish. Those who have never sat their GCSE Spanish will need to complete an initial assessment done at College.
4 GCSE passes with minimum grade E or grade 3 (or equivalent) including English.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This qualification has a one-year duration. Assessment is by means of 4 units of assessment offered at Foundation Tier and Higher Tier:
Unit 1 Listening
Unit 2 Speaking
Unit 3 Reading
Unit 4 Writing
PROGRESSION
Students who pass GCSE Spanish at grade C or above will be able to progress onto the A Level Spanish course at Level 3.
