INTRODUCTION (J835)
This qualification is designed to assess the application of Health and Social Care through a ‘hands on’ approach and to provide learners with the opportunities to gain essential knowledge and transferable skills to improve their learning within this field. This qualification also allows the learner to enhance their employability within the sector.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Level 1 Unit Awards in Health & Social Care PLUS Level 1 Mathematics and English; OR
4 GCSE passes with minimum grade E or grade 3 (or equivalent) including English.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This qualification will be graded with a Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.
Unit R032 is an externally set exam-based unit (1 hour and 15 minutes written paper).
Units R033 and R034 are internally set assignment-based units and focuses on the following content:
The different life stages and the factors that affect them;
The expected and unexpected life events and the impact these will have on individuals;
The possibility of learning about a range of creative and therapeutic activities and the benefits of these to those who take part;

Successful completion of the course offers candidates several routes for progression:
